Social distancing rules are in place to prevent the prevent the spread of coronavirus
During this initial three week lockdown, now more than ever, the public is being asked to remain two metres away from each other at all times.
Following Monday nights announcement in which the Government ordered all non essential stores to close, only supermarkets and a few other retailers remain open.
This means demand on them all is huge, and the number of shoppers visiting is more than usual too.

While people are still being allowed out to shop for essentials once a day, they are encouraged to only do so if they really need to.
Despite all the provisions, it is inevitable that crowds of shoppers will at the same supermarkets at the same time.
So how are retailers such as Asda, Tesco, Aldi and more ensuring customers remain two metres apart at all times? Well many stores now have a strict customer limit to how many are allowed in its stores at one time.
Below weve detailed the new measures in place at supermarkets and how many people are allowed in its stores:
Tesco
Tesco is also allowing 50 customers at any one time in its larger stores.
Sings outside Tesco stores now read: For safety of our customers and colleagues we will only be letting 50 customers in the shops at any one time.
This will be manned and a one in one out process in place.
We will also be ONLY opening two of our entrances, one on Park Road and the other from the car park.
With one exit in the car park. We would like to thank you for your cooperation at this time.
Asda
While Asda is yet to set a limit on the number of customers allowed in its stores, security guards have been placed at its entrance manning how many customers come in and out.
We visited our local Asda store last night and once inside, staff were also monitoring how many customers were allowed down each aisle.

Sainsburys
Sainsbury’s has been praised on Twitter by many of its customers for the lengths it is going to across its stores to ensure social distancing is being carried out.
Many are also thanking the retailer for how quickly its shelves are being restocked meaning they are able to get their full shop in.
At the moment, the retailer is yet to announce a specific number in terms of customers at one time in stores however it has measures in place at its stores to make sure all customers stay two metres apart.

Morrisons
Morrisons is currently offering a one trolley per customer policy. This is in support of the latest government advice that one member of each household should shop for essentials once a day.
Morrisons is yet to confirm the customer limit at the moment, however it has confirmed that there is a limit in place.
Replying to a customers question on Twitter the retailer said: Hey! We have vinyl stickers on our floors to indicate where to stand and queue, we’re controlling the amount of people in the store at any one time and we do have a dedicated hour for NHS staff in the morning.
Aldi
Aldi is another retail who has placed social distancing measure at its stores and has also rolled out clear screens at its tills to protect its staff.
On Twitter last night, the retailer also confirmed that although it doesn’t yet have a strict customer limit staff are monitoring how many customers are visiting at one time and managing it accordingly.
